The vertical winder ensures the uniformity of winding mainly through the following key measures:

1Precise mechanical structure design

Reel Accuracy

The reel is the core component of the winding process, and its own precision is crucial. High-quality vertical winders use high-precision reels, and the reel's cylindricity, concentricity and other indicators are strictly controlled. For example, the reel's cylindricity error can be controlled within a very small range, which allows the material to be evenly distributed on the reel during the winding process. A reel with high concentricity can avoid eccentricity of the material during winding and ensure the neatness of the winding.

Guide roller system

The installation accuracy and surface quality of the guide roller have a great influence on the neatness of winding. The guide roller needs to be accurately installed on the winder to ensure its parallelism with the reel. A guide roller with good parallelism can guide the material into the reel at the correct angle and position for winding. At the same time, the surface of the guide roller should be smooth without any unevenness, so as to reduce the jumping and deviation of the material when passing through the guide roller, so that the material can be smoothly transferred to the reel for neat winding.

2Advanced control system

Edge Position Control (EPC) System

This system is one of the key technologies to ensure the neatness of winding. It monitors the position of the edge of the material in real time through sensors. When the edge of the material is offset, the sensor will send a signal to the control system. The control system quickly adjusts the position of the guide roller or the winding speed according to the signal to return the edge of the material to the correct position. For example, when winding paper and other materials, the EPC system can accurately control the edge of the paper so that it always remains in the set position, thereby ensuring that the edge of the entire roll of material is neat.

Speed synchronization control

In order to ensure the uniformity of winding, the speed of each component of the winder needs to be precisely synchronized. This includes the material unwinding speed, the transmission speed of the guide roller and the winding speed of the reel. Through advanced frequency conversion speed regulation technology and servo control technology, these speeds are kept in precise proportional relationship. For example, when there is a slight change in the unwinding speed, the control system will adjust the reel winding speed in time to ensure that the material always maintains appropriate tension and uniform winding speed during the winding process, avoiding material accumulation or looseness caused by inconsistent speeds, thereby ensuring the uniformity of winding.

3. Appropriate winding process parameter settings

Tension control

Appropriate tension is an important factor in ensuring neat winding. Too much tension may cause the material to stretch and deform, resulting in wrinkles on the wound material; too little tension will cause the material to be wound loosely. Through a precise tension control system, a reasonable tension value is set according to factors such as the material's properties and thickness, so that the material can be wound tightly and neatly on the reel. For example, when winding thin plastic film, a lower tension should be set to prevent the film from being broken or deformed, ensuring neat winding of the film.

Winding layer number control

Reasonable control of the number of layers of winding can also help improve the neatness of winding. For different materials and different winding requirements, the appropriate number of layers should be set. For example, for thicker materials, the transition between each layer should be smooth to avoid step-like unevenness. At the same time, the winding machine can automatically adjust parameters such as tension or speed according to the pre-set number of layers after reaching the set number of layers to ensure the neatness of the appearance and internal structure of the entire roll of material.
